Legal Marketing: If Your Law Firm Is Not On The Web, Then Say Goodbye To Your  Business.

Law firms of all sizes (and types, for that matter) are having problems getting new cases and clients due to increased competition from firms that have turned to the Internet and social networking to generate additional business. More and more firms are using various legal marketing tools such as e-newsletters, websites, and blogs to promote themselves. Getting "more bang for your buck" is now mandatory if a firm wants to survive.

We can provide you with a compete legal marketing solution that is designed to help you get more clients quickly and easily and in a way that is cost-effective and respects the fact that you are in business to make money. After all, your overhead is not going down, is it? So, why should you be spending more than necessary to grow your firm in these tough economic times?

Legal Marketing 101 - Must Haves
  • A website. Today, most people rely on the Web for everything from shopping and directions to finding professional services. They expect you to have a well crafted, professional looking website. This is very important since, just like your business cards and corporate logo, your website says more about you than just the services you provide.

So, let's just think about this for a moment. If your website looks like it was put together by a 10-year-old, then what does that say about you and your company? Does it cast you in a positive light? Does it make you look professional?

However, even when a company provides you with a professional looking website (as is the case with a large legal publishing company) you may not be aware of hidden costs and significant contractual limitations placed on you with respect to your own website.. The difference between us and them is that we allow you to have access to your website so that you can make changes to the content whenever you like. We don't lock you into long, expensive contracts; and we certainly don't hold your domain name hostage.

  • Web Marketing. Obviously, you or your firm needs to be found in the search engines. While this seems to be a "no brainer," you have no idea how many clients say, "I can be found if you type in my firm's name." Of course, that logic assumes that the person doing the search has already heard of you or already knows your firm's name.

In reality, most online searches for legal services look like this: "lawyer bellmore ny personal injury" or "law firm merrick ny car accident". If you're a Personal Injury lawyer and you're located in Merrick, New York, you are losing clients and they are going right to one of your competitors. Ideally, you would want to show on the first page of Google. For information about our marketing services click here.

  • Online Newsletter. You need to keep the content fresh on your website. Think about this for a moment; would you go to a lawyer whose website shows information from a case they won in 2003 and nothing newer?

It's a matter of perception. Clients want to see content (text, graphics, images, videos, etc) that is timely and current. Fresh content also has the added benefit of keeping your website ranked high in the search engines. An online newsletter posted regularly on your website will provide visitors with information concerning such things as dangerous prescription and over-the-counter medications, product recalls, toxic substances, significant court decisions, important legislation that impacts on people's legal rights, and much more.

  • E-Newsletter. When it comes to e-marketing, out of sight is truly out of mind. An e-newsletter, sent via email to your present and past clients, expert witnesses, personal contacts, referring attorneys, and others in your e-mail address book,  is a remarkably effective and inexpensive method of getting new business. An e-newsletter lets you immediately inform a large number of people about successful outcomes (verdicts, settlements, appeals, etc.) involving your firm, announcements (new partners, opening of a new office), newsworthy items concerning your firm or the areas in which you practice, and contact information. Everyone subscribing to your e-newsletter thus becomes a potential source of business, a referrer, and a good will ambassador for your firm, all at the same time. Can you really afford not to have an e-newsletter working for you? E-newsletters also have unlimited, instantaneous geographical reach.

  • Social Networking.  Certainly, you have heard of Facebook and Twitter, the "Social Networks" that are now  used by almost everyone to one extent or another. It is estimated that Facebook currently has over 500 million members worldwide.

With so many persons using Facebook and Twitter it would hardly make sense to ignore these networks as a marketing platform for business. Virtually every business entity has some type of presence on Facebook and Twitter and if you don't, you are missing out on a  proven, inexpensive way of getting new business.

These are the basics of legal marketing that you need to implement in order to survive. One thing is for sure, most of your competitors are using the above techniques to increase their client base. So, why aren't you?
